VideoRonk's - Search n Download

Saturday, September 30, 2006

Mashable pointed out a newcomer in Video Downloader on the net, called VideoRonk. The good thing 'bout this newcomer is that it supports lotsa video type :D So far i only knew how to download YouTube and GoogleVideo, but not Metacafe or DailyMotion one :P So this is very very handy ;) and it even support MySpace videos ^^

As for how it works, well, it's a search based tool ;) so just use it like you used google ;) enter a keyword and then *voila*

And as for the results, it was satisfying enough, since it's displays a wee bit scene of the video itself ! Along with the durations of course ;) More to it, you can add it to your favourites !!

Well ... with this, it'll be a nice weekend for all of us, don't we ;)

Enjoy, and have a nice weekend ^^

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

This time i'll brought up somethin' that my dearest friend has given to me as *fishes* ^^ (uhmm... just guess ok :P don't ask :P) well... it's on the tagboard on my left sidebar :P just fyi :P have made a digg style, signature generator, which load the content of your blog ^^ isn't that nice ;) and ... there's MORE... it even include your gravatar !!

Well, this could be a nice way to promote yer blog over at the forums that you visited often ;) Even more, don't forgot your EMAILs !! ^^

It was way better than the default FeedBurner's signature (which in this case they refer to as Headline Animator) in term of the style and designs :P ... well, at least that's my opinion though :P

But i guess, it should be even more nicer, if we can style it ourself don't we ? ;)

Saturday, September 23, 2006

Emil Stenström from friendly bit has cooked up a very very delicious knowledge for all of us :) He has made a lists of all the HTML elements :) and give a very brief and humanize description so all of us can understand it ^^ even though you're not an HTML programmer or so :P well, i mean at least you do have some knowledge of HTML ;)

And as i thought, hmm.. this must be some boring explanation and so on, i found that Emil's lists was very very good ^^ even i don't know the whole HTML elements that he listed :| besides the way that Emil brought up the lists is very handy, he gives some coloring bar for all the elements that he explained, there are GREEN, YELLOW, and RED bars ;) so you can find it right away ;) i started to read the YELLOW one first :P

Daily Lit

Thursday, September 14, 2006

Daily Lit offers a simple and brilliant idea to help you read a book ;) They bring up the idea that, most people now don't have much time to JUST read a book, or even SPARE the time to read the book. But most people will ALWAYS have time to read an email ! Now this is the idea behind it ;)

So, they will delivered to you parts of the books by email, it will be some portion of text which you'll be able to read it in a time less than 5 minutes ;) And it will be delivered periodically, based on what span of time you choose, either its daily or weekly ;)

Well, to make it more clear, lemme quote it from the Daily Lit

"How long does it take to read a book?"

That depends on three factors. First, on how many parts are in the book (shown when you browse for books). Second, on how frequently you choose to receive emails. Third, on how often you read more than one part (by using the "send me the next part immediately" feature). So here is a typical example. I am currently reading Dracula, which has 187 parts and I am receiving parts on weekdays, i.e. 5 days/week. So at most it will take me 187/5 = 37 weeks. But when I am on the train or waiting, I often read more than one part, so I usually wind up reading about 10 parts/week. This means I will finish Dracula in about 19 weeks or 5 months. If that seems long to you, try something shorter!

Well, isn't that interesting ;) So why dontcha go sign up for the books ;)

Have Fun ^^

CodeHighlighter 0.4

Monday, September 11, 2006

Mr. Dan Webb, a London-based web developer specialising in web application development, has made a great Code Highlighter javascript, which is a LIGHTWEIGHT (boy, how i loved those word ^^), unobstrusive and fully configurable script for displaying code examples highlighted. Like when you do scripting with text editor such as Ultra Edit, Dreamweaver, FlashDevelop and many others that support highlighting parts or your code. Anyway the size is just around 4K ;)

So, maybe i'll give a summary of how to installed those marvelous script on your website ;)

Okay, here we go :

1. Download Dan's CodeHighlighter 0.4 first ;)
2. Read the tutorials ;) (what the... ?!) :P kiddin' well i'll try to explain it my best :)

Well, after you downloaded the javascripts, you hafta add those into your website by using the <script> ... </script> tag, and of course you hafta host/upload those files !

So it goes on like these (make sure the src field is pointing at your host, well you know laa) :

<script type="text/javascript" src="code_highlighter.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="javascript.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="css.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="html.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="ruby.js"></script>

The most important file is the code_highlighter.js the others will serve as a style sets (as Mr. Dan refer to) it has some explanation when you download the files ;)

Anyway, for example we wanted to highlights the javascript codes, then the rules for what words that should be higlighted will be on the javascript.js file.

If you open up the javascript.js file you will see some piece of unreadable code (for some human :P), anyway for any of you who are familiar with RegExp you would find it beautiful ;) (i don't though :P)

Anyway if you wanted to add some words which you wanted to highlight, then simply add the word in these line:

keywords : {
exp : /\b(arguments|break|case|continue|default|delete|do|else|false|for|function|if|in|instanceof|new|null|return|switch|this|true|typeof|var|void|while|with)\b/

global : {
exp : /\b(toString|valueOf|window|element|prototype|constructor|document|escape|unescape|parseInt|parseFloat|setTimeout|clearTimeout|setInterval|clearInterval|NaN|isNaN|Infinity)\b/

just add it before the )\b/ on the end of the exp : line, of well, hope you understand it lah :P

And now for the main show, in your part of code that you wanted to add the highlights, simply add an appropriate class to each <code> element that contains code, as for the class, they were 'javascript', 'ruby', 'css' or 'html'.

so it goes like these :
<code class="javascript">
//paste your code here
//paste your code here
//paste your code here
//paste your code here
//paste your code here

and your code will be highlighted beautifully ;)

WAIT !! It doesn't produce the beautiful color ! How do i change the colors ? Nice questions ! Since there's no guide or explanation when you download the javascript :P So here we go again, a 'howto' on changing the colors

Okay first, take a look at the javascript.js file, you will then see some list such as comment, brackets, string, keywords, exp, and global. Now those are the words that you will hafta define the CSS styles !

so you write the CSS styles for those words like these :
code.javascript span.comment { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }
code.javascript span.brackets { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }
code.javascript span.string { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }
code.javascript span.keywords { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }
code.javascript span.exp { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }
code.javascript { color: YOUR COLOR HERE; }

as for the other class code, you simply change the word javascript to css or html, and find the words on css.js or html.js file, and then repeat the steps above ;)

that's it ! it should be working nice and beautiful ;) well, hope you understand it :P if you still haven't get it to work you can always drop me an email ;)

have fun ^^
