Digg-less Feed

Saturday, March 22, 2008

If digg.com has 1 weakness, it has to be it's feed, for the feeds leads us to the digg page, not the page that was being dug (or is it dugg?)

There are countless of bookmarklets, add-ons, greasemonkey scripts that pretty much can handle this problem. But i wanted to be able to do it while reading my feeds. Just like a regular action when you see the news on your feed, you just have to click the link, and voila! you're there.

Lately there's a new comer floating around the web: Feeddit.

Feeddit, Digg less feed

Feeddit is an improvement to the standard rss feed on Digg.com, it's longer, fatter and more awesome.

There are 100 stories long rather than the regular 40 so you’ll never miss another story.

Each feed item has the actual link so you can skip past the Digg story page and get directly to the story.

The only downside of Feeddit is that we can't configure, or choose some category ourself.

But, if you need to optimize you digg daily reading, then this one will save one click time ;)

Feeddit, Digg less feed
After you've subscribed, the above screenshot is a peek of what it'll looked like. You have the same (well, almost the same) feed as usual, but with:

  • Header which will bring us the page and not the digg page (which is the main feature)
  • A footer that have a link to the Digg page, the Comment section, the Category, the Submitter
  • And another handy feature, the mirror link ;)

If you're a hardcore digger, who reads everything, this one might save your time ;)

Fast & Easy Way to Get mp3 From FLV Files

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Sometimes after i've downloaded an FLV files from YouTube or anything using your favourite tools, i decided i wanted to use some background sound, or songs, just for the sake of hearing it rings on my handphone :P

FLV Extract

Well, moitah.net come up with just what i wanted ! A simple tool that can extract the Video and Audio into a separate files. AVI and MP3. Perfect !

To use this tool, one 9 year old boy can even do it after you teach it :P Simply drag-and-drop the FLV files (yes, you can do it multiple files !!)

After that wait a while, oh wait ! You don't need to wait ! After you drop it, the extracted files is there ! IT REALLY IS THAT FAST !

There can't be any other program that'll beat this one.

No-installation, drag-and-drop, simple GUI, BLAZING Fast, and (another plus for the nerds) comes with a FULL Source Code !

YAY ^^ Glad i found this FLV Extract :D

p.s: in case you're wondering the flv file i use in the above screenshot, here you go Centurions ;)

Chinese Underground Fur Farms

Thursday, March 06, 2008

First of all, this is not for the squeamish !! (I've warned you)

If you're one of those FUR admirer, a collectors or anythin' else, maybe it's time for you to know the behind the scene. Yeaah, i know. This is just another PETA campaign. At first i was like that too, thinking, well, it couldn't be that bad !

But boy ! After i got this from a friend, i bet you'll change your mind !

When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut. When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera.

Pledge to go fur-free at PETA.org
(RSS reader, click through to see the video)

And even though they have a campaign to Shed your skin! Donate unwanted furs to PETA. After i read it, i think their justified reasons are a little bit unreasonable =_=

- Your old furs could save an animal's life—and gain you a tax deduction!

In what manner do you think donating furs can save an animal's life ?! Also what is that bulls**t tax deduction you're trying to persuade people ?! I'm sure you can find a better reasons ?!

- Because of the vast number of furs that we receive, we donate many of them to homeless people who can't afford to buy their own coats—the only people who have any excuse to wear fur.

Coat is a coat, a fur coat is another thing. We can always donate a nice regular coat, doesn't have to be fur right ?!

Well maybe it's just me. I'm not against the campaign though. But i think they should make this campaign a little bit reasonable, with more pure and honest intention.
