Now with this tool, you don't hafta fire up some photoshop :P surely this will make life more easier ^^

The Interface is simple enough, much more like the loading gif generator, but this sure is more eye-appealing :)

Blogger: Learn to Migrate Your Template

Saturday, March 24, 2007

Migrating to something new, has never been an easy process. You will hafta face with some trouble, or even a new condition where all your previous knowledge will seem to have no use.

The best way to learn a new thing, is of course to try it out yourself, which in this case, some will have it in a long time, some will acknowledge the new thing quickly. Depends. But for me, sometimes by reading, or hearing, or knowing what other people's experiences is the best way to learn. We can simply follow them, and do some innovation here and there, once we grasp the core of it ;)

And as for this post, Improbulus from Consuming Experience has been kindly enough to share the knowledge. Improbulus have written a great post of 'New Blogger (Beta): template tweaks after migrating'

The post, include a very useful information, such as :

  • Old Blogger template tags replacements - www to www2
  • Conditional tags fix
  • Editing comments
  • Fixing and tweaking blog feeds

All of it come in a great piece of information. So without further ado, go read the post, and have it on your bookmark ;)

Have a nice weekend ^^

I Used To Believe

Friday, March 16, 2007

I used to believe that every day of the week had its own colour.

Monday was yellow, Tuesday was lilac, Wednesday was dark green, Thursday pink, Friday orange, Saturday red, and finally Sunday was blue.

I never knew why, until I got older and realised those were colours used in our TV guide for every day of the week.

Still, to this day whenever I have to make an appointment, I think in "colours".

- M

I Used To Believe, is a great reference to Childhood's believe :) It gather round all of our believes when we were a child ^^

Lots of interesting beliefs from common beliefs to some funny ones (when we think of it again) :D

On I Used To Believe site, you can find, browse, read, all of every childhood's believe :D Each have it own sections, and each have the best beliefs one, which are voted by all readers all around da world, yes, that's mean you can vote too ;)

Best of all, you can share your beliefs too ;) by adding it :)

They even released a book featuring the best beliefs, Butter Comes From Butterflies gathers in one delightfully illustrated volume the silly, strange, and sometimes astonishing explanations for the way the world works.

Equal parts misunderstanding, imagination, and good old-fashioned zany kid logic, the unique musings in these pages range from sweet notions -- "birds grow from birdseed" -- to hilarious mix-ups -- "gorilla-cheese sandwiches" and "God is short for Godfrey." Scientifically proven to be impossible to put down, the off-base wisdom of Butter Comes from Butterflies is sure to charm and delight.

As a final note, lemme quote from the site itself
I Used To Believe will remind you what it was like to be a child, fascinated and horrified by the world in equal parts. The following pages will reassure you that the things you used to believe weren't so strange after all. Just be careful what you tell your own children!

You'll stare it and read it for hours, with a smile that'll never leave your face ^^

Have a happy weekend everybody ^^

Blogger: Sort Your Feeds

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

It has been a well known problems among Bloggers, that Blogger's feeds are behaving a little bit annoying (for some). Everytime one update it's post, then blogger automatically update the feeds so that, the post that have been updated appears on top, which cause some feeds publishers, to publish again those post. This can be annoying for some, who maybe just wanted to update some typo mistakes etc. So, in short, Blogger's feeds are sorted by Updated date rather than by Published date.

The Bleets are trying to solve this problem by using the new Pipe from Yahoo!.

But phydeaux3 HAVE A GOOD NEWS !

Well fret no more. Just hours ago the blogging Pirate Pete announced at the Blogger Dev Group the introduction of the "orderby" parameter, which will sort those feeds by updated (the default) or by published (what many want).

This was such a nice news to hear ^^ all the complicated things are solved by a single orderby parameter ;)

Just add that extra parameter to your feed ;) just replace the YOURBLOG with your blog :P err.. well you know it ;)
http://YOURBLOG.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=published

You're publishing via FTP ? No worries ! Head over to phydeaux3 posts for the details ;)
Great job Blogger ^^

STOP Disasters !

Saturday, March 10, 2007

Disasters triggered by natural hazards destroy lives and livelihoods. They affect millions of people every year, rich or poor. With your help, we can reduce human, physical and financial cost of disasters by understanding the risks and applying the best methods of prevention and mitigation. Simple measures really do save lives!

ISDR (International Strategy for Disaster Reduction) developed a VERY GREAT GAME ! Which brought us to a different view on how we can reduce what disasters can cost to us, either material lost or even life lost !

In this STOP Disasters education game, we can get more in-depth knowledge of human most common disasters.

Your role in this game is to plan and construct a safer environment for your population. You must assess the disaster risk and try to limit the damage when natural hazards strike.

The interface of the game itself is pretty ! BEST edu-game in Flash i've ever met, the complexity, yet simple is adding more value to this game ^^ despite it's huge file size (around 1.9MB) :P but i think for a game with such a class, below 2MB is very decent !

It is a single player game, which is meant to give you some education, but it can be played in a groups and discuss the best course of action to take ;) And this was for all ages ^^

To get more information about all the disasters, ISDR have provided some fact-sheets, which you can find here which can be a good reference for explaning to your childrens ;)

Well, time to learn then ^^ Enjoy this GREAT simulation game from UN/ISDR!

ColorJack

Friday, March 02, 2007

ColorJack is my new inspiration source for color after Kuler. When my net connections are slow, ColorJack was definitely my choice to get some color inspirations, since it was based on javascript, and it is lightweight, so it'll load faster even on dial-up ^^

And i can assure you, that the guy behind it, has done a deep research about color. From Color Blindness, variety of Color Formats (RGB, HSL, CMYK, etc.) to the ease of use in a Spin Wheel color chooser, ColorJack is a beautiful tool ^^

_________________________________________________________

There are several tools that ColorJack provided for us, the first one is called the Studio

In this section, you can choose the color using the picker, or simply enter the value of RGB, HSC, or CMYK if you knew ;) And the good news to CS user, those color can be save into SWATCHES :D both in Photoshop and/or Illustrator ^^

_________________________________________________________

The recent tool that was added is Sphere. A very very easy to use !

On the top of the Sphere you can choose the Color from Neutral to Four-Tone, Six-Tone, Complementary, etc. along with some options for Color Blind ;)

You can choose the color to be websafe, or websmart too ^^

The nicest thing bout this Sphere is that it was VERY EASY TO USE. Simply click and drag on the color area, and there you have your color theme on the right ;) KISS ;)

_________________________________________________________

So in overall ColorJack definetely worth to be played ;)

And be sure to check out it's history page, there are lotsa goodies you can spot on ;)
