Mr Coo: El Laberinto Esférico

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Nacho Rodriguez, a 27-year old animator out of Barcelona, the #1 winner of Flash Animation 10: Best Animated, have put up his first Mr Coo game: El Laberinto Esférico.

I always like this type of 'choose your own adventure' game :D And this is just a perfect example of it ! With just a simple click and there, with a little bit of mini game inside, and multiple endings ! And not just that, look at the artwork ! It's awesome :D

You will be taken to a labyrinth where Mr. Coo falls to his death, and so the adventure begin :D Simply click and play ;) Once you've beaten a path, click play again. You must complete all paths to get the real ending ;)

Have fun ^_^ and choose your own way at the El Laberinto Esférico ;)

Oh, if you're curious of Mr. Coo's winning Flash Animation, here you go :)

Tripline - A Nice Puzzle Game

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

Joakim Sandberg at konjak.org is a brilliant artist. His artwork is amazing !

But what's more amazing is he creates beautiful games ! :D

Tripline is one of his creation. This is a very nice puzzle game. You know when you're kid and try to draw a line that never touch/intersect ? Well, this puzzle is based on that idea ;)

You will draw a line to complete the puzzle :) As simple as that ;)

But even though it's simple, can you manage to clear 30 levels ? ;)

The game interface is very cute ^_^ It was kinda like a notebook with scribbles on it :)

You only need to press Enter to start drawing the lines, and draw using your arrow keys. If you look carefully, each symbol is in the middle of four little box. So, say if you're making a mistake you can always make a little turn :P Otherwise just press Spacebar to restart :P

Give this one a try ;) It's a fun little puzzle game :D

Enjoy :D

How Well Can You Hear Shapes ?

Friday, May 23, 2008

Now after you know that you are not Tone Deaf, it's time to see whether you can hear the shapes ?!

So, what is this test called AMVI all about ?

What is AMVI? Associative Musical Visual Intelligence (or "amvi" for short) is a type of intelligence that's difficult enough to define, let alone test. Many creative people can associate across sensory domains: they "hear" hints of shapes and can "taste" the essense of colors. At its most extreme this phenomenon is called syntesthesia. However, I believe that creative people subconsciously employ elements of syntesthesia every day when attempting to think of things in new ways. This test attempts to measure one's ability to associate musical phrases with abstract shapes and symbols.

This is entirely a different thing then the Tone Deaf Test I've blogged before. Surely is another piece of good test from Mr. Jake Mandell!

After the overwhelming success of the Tone Deaf Test Mr. Jake Mandell done a research with Dr. Schlaug at the Music and Neuroimaging Laboratory at Beth Israel / Harvard Medical School. And they gave birth to this awesome test.

As usual, you'll be given a piece or two music, and you'll have to answer, what could be the appropriate shapes that represent the music ;)

It's quite challenging and fun ! On some questions I had to hit the Replay button for more than 10 times ! :P

Anyway, here's my score for the first try :P

Give it a try ;) And don't forget to pay Jake a visit ;)

Have a nice weekend everybody ^^

An Excuse For Lack of Post

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Adam@Home by Brian Basset
Many bloggers sometimes need an excuse for the lack of post, it's not that they don't like to blog, they do. It's just that sometime they really don't have anything to blog about.

And that is just another excuse :P to keep your reader updated, that you're still blogging. Blogging about the thing that you don't have something to blog today. Nice eh ? ;)

See more of Brian Basset's Adam@Home here ;)

p.s: Another excuse from me, I really am very busy at office ;) but then again you might find something nice on my bookmark at del.icio.us ;)

The Place To Hear All National Anthems

Friday, April 04, 2008

All National Anthems

A national anthem is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognized either by a country's government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people.

AllNationalAnthems.com is a website dedicated to collect all Anthems in the world, currently collected 184 countries (yup i count em :P). The good thing about this is the Anthem comes in video format :) So you can see some footage or overview of the country while you hear the Anthem (which probably you don't understand most of them :P)

There are 2 ways you can choose a country. First is using the Yahoo!Maps above, which is easy to navigate. Just scroll around click here and there.

The other is, you go straight away to the bottom of the page, search for the specific country, and click the link ;) If you have trouble seeing those link, then if you're Firefox users or IE7+ users, just press Ctrl + on your keyboard ;)

All National Anthems, Summary and Anthem Video
Inside you'll then find a brief summary of the country, followed by a video of the anthem :) Nice and simple !

Scroll down a little, you'll get to know the weather, the map, and basic information such as population etc.

All National Anthems, Basic Information

The data so far is quite up-to-date. The population estimate is from 2007. Which is good ^^

So far AllNationalAnthems.com have given a pretty solid value, the Anthem and some basic summary and information ;)

The only thing that needs to be add is a home link/button. Once you go in to specific country, either you browse through another country using the Yahoo!Maps, or change the url address, and pick the link again from the beginning :P

Have a try and have a nice weekend ^^

Digg-less Feed

Saturday, March 22, 2008

If digg.com has 1 weakness, it has to be it's feed, for the feeds leads us to the digg page, not the page that was being dug (or is it dugg?)

There are countless of bookmarklets, add-ons, greasemonkey scripts that pretty much can handle this problem. But i wanted to be able to do it while reading my feeds. Just like a regular action when you see the news on your feed, you just have to click the link, and voila! you're there.

Lately there's a new comer floating around the web: Feeddit.

Feeddit, Digg less feed

Feeddit is an improvement to the standard rss feed on Digg.com, it's longer, fatter and more awesome.

There are 100 stories long rather than the regular 40 so you’ll never miss another story.

Each feed item has the actual link so you can skip past the Digg story page and get directly to the story.

The only downside of Feeddit is that we can't configure, or choose some category ourself.

But, if you need to optimize you digg daily reading, then this one will save one click time ;)

Feeddit, Digg less feed
After you've subscribed, the above screenshot is a peek of what it'll looked like. You have the same (well, almost the same) feed as usual, but with:

  • Header which will bring us the page and not the digg page (which is the main feature)
  • A footer that have a link to the Digg page, the Comment section, the Category, the Submitter
  • And another handy feature, the mirror link ;)

If you're a hardcore digger, who reads everything, this one might save your time ;)

Some other useful links if you wanted to have a particular feeds, or maybe something that you can configure yourself, check this two out ;)

Chinese Underground Fur Farms

Thursday, March 06, 2008

First of all, this is not for the squeamish !! (I've warned you)

If you're one of those FUR admirer, a collectors or anythin' else, maybe it's time for you to know the behind the scene. Yeaah, i know. This is just another PETA campaign. At first i was like that too, thinking, well, it couldn't be that bad !

But boy ! After i got this from a friend, i bet you'll change your mind !

When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut. When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera.

Pledge to go fur-free at PETA.org
(RSS reader, click through to see the video)

And even though they have a campaign to Shed your skin! Donate unwanted furs to PETA. After i read it, i think their justified reasons are a little bit unreasonable =_=

- Your old furs could save an animal's life—and gain you a tax deduction!

In what manner do you think donating furs can save an animal's life ?! Also what is that bulls**t tax deduction you're trying to persuade people ?! I'm sure you can find a better reasons ?!

- Because of the vast number of furs that we receive, we donate many of them to homeless people who can't afford to buy their own coats—the only people who have any excuse to wear fur.

Coat is a coat, a fur coat is another thing. We can always donate a nice regular coat, doesn't have to be fur right ?!

Well maybe it's just me. I'm not against the campaign though. But i think they should make this campaign a little bit reasonable, with more pure and honest intention.

Garfield Minus Garfield ?!

Monday, February 25, 2008

Some of you people maybe already know that i'm a loyal follower of Garfield Comic Strip :D

I found out today that there's some person that has a unique idea ! That person make a parody of the Garfield Comic Strip into a Garfield Minus Garfield !

Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolor disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life?
Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against lonliness and methamphetamine addiction in a quiet American suburb.

Basically it remove Garfield out of frame, thus only displaying Jon, which already have some unique mind and attitude (if you get what i mean) ;)

So, let's take a look some of the strips, compared to the original, and you'd be the judge ;)

GROW nano vol. 3

Thursday, February 21, 2008

I'm a little surprised when i found out that i haven't been blogging about Eyezmaze's GROW !! How can i not share this one with you guys and gurls ?!

GROW originally was in Japanese, but the game was very popular so that the maker is kind enough to made an English site ^^

GROW is a series of puzzle game type. A unique one i might say :D It's a puzzle which is simple to play and hard to beat ! And have multiple solutios ! That's the kind of puzzle that makes you come back and play again :D

Yesterday, after a long wait, they launch a simple Grow nano vol.3 ^^ Seems the author is sick for this time, so i wish the best for him, hopefully he will get better soon :)

(click the image to play)

This GROW nano vol.3 is an easy one ;)

And after you get some clue of how to play, you can try the other series which can be more challenging ;D
Enjoy the game ^^
